The Little Beaver Conservation District has served the natural resource needs of Fallon County, Montana for over 80 years. Originally established on October 17, 1942 as the “Little Beaver Soil Conservation District,” the district initially encompassed 425,517 acres within the Little Beaver Creek drainage in both Fallon and Carter Counties.
Over the decades, the district’s boundaries were adjusted to exclude Carter County and include all of Fallon County. In 1968, the communities of Baker and Plevna petitioned to enter the district. The name was updated to “Little Beaver Soil and Water Conservation District” in 1961, and then to its current name, “Little Beaver Conservation District,” in 1971. Today the district covers all 1,045,120 acres of Fallon County.
The district works closely with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), and other local, state, and federal partners to provide conservation assistance to landowners, producers, and the community.
Our District
Little Beaver Conservation District covers all of Fallon County — over 1 million acres in Montana’s southeastern corner. Our landscape includes rolling mixed-grass prairie, sagebrush steppe, riparian areas along Little Beaver Creek and its tributaries, and productive agricultural land.
We serve a community of ranchers, farmers, and landowners who depend on the health of this land. The district provides 310 stream permitting, conservation planning, equipment rental, tree planting programs, and technical assistance.
Our Board
The Little Beaver Conservation District is governed by a board of locally elected supervisors who volunteer their time to guide the district’s conservation mission.

Jessica Stark
District Coordinator
Originally from Baker, Jessica grew up on her family’s ranch north of town. She manages the day-to-day operations of the district, including equipment rentals, tree orders, and public outreach. Jessica is currently pursuing an associate degree in agricultural business and has been active in both 4-H and FFA.
The district office is shared with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Michelle Gorder is the local NRCS contact.
Meeting Schedule
The Little Beaver Conservation District Board of Supervisors meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:00 PM at the district office located at 141 South 4th Street West, Baker, MT. All meetings are open to the public.
